Four Points by Sheraton Bakersfield is a newly renovated hotel ideally located near the Bakersfield business district, offering a perfect blend of comfort and convenience for both business and leisure travelers. Set on 7.5 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, the hotel is within five miles of popular destinations including the Mechanics Bank Arena, Fox Theatre, downtown Bakersfield, Buck Owens Crystal Palace, and the Park at Riverwalk. Guests can enjoy easy access to nearby markets, shops, and attractions such as the Kern County Fairgrounds and California State University Bakersfield. Currently, the hotel is seeking a Bartender to enhance the guest experience by delivering high-quality beverage and food services in the lounge and bar area. This full-time role requires preparing and serving drinks and food orders in compliance with state and federal regulations, including age verification for alcohol service. The Bartender will be responsible for coordinating lounge activities, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the bar and kitchen areas, and ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed.
The position demands a high level of professionalism, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage challenging situations involving customer service. Responsibilities include managing cash transactions, monitoring customer alcohol consumption to limit liability, conducting inventory and ordering supplies as needed, and crafting appealing drink presentations. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills in English and maintain a respectful demeanor toward all patrons and colleagues. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- three to six months related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
- valid alcohol awareness certification

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- present menu, answer questions and take food and beverage orders from guests and/or serving staff
- prepare drink orders including wine, liquor, and beer
- prepare appetizers and food items according to recipes and standards
- monitor seating in lounge/bar area ensuring all guests are served
- compute bill and accept payment
- track and balance sales receipts
- limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by discontinuing alcohol service and notifying management
- clean bars, work areas, tables, glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
- maintain kitchen and lounge station by keeping area tidy, clean and stock kitchen and bar at end of each shift
- plan, organize, and control operations of lounge/bar area
- slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks
- arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
- create drink recipes
- inventory liquor, food, supplies and equipment weekly
- order or requisition supplies as needed
- ensure all temp logs and waste logs are maintained daily
- receive, date, and examine foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet standards
- ensure tips are reported properly for tax processing
- handle cash, prepare and deposit cash drops, secure and balance bank
- interact and occasionally have unsupervised contact with guests and/or colleagues
- maintain high level of trust and responsibility
- represent the company with good character and exercise sound judgment
- perform other duties as assigned
