The Bartender role at Hotel ZaZa is an integral part of the hospitality team, responsible for delivering prompt, courteous, and professional service in accordance with the hotel’s stringent service and operational standards. This position involves preparing and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as light meals, to guests situated at the bar, restaurant, or pool area. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mixology, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

Bartenders at Hotel ZaZa are not only tasked with crafting classic and innovative drinks but also with creating memorable guest experiences through attentive service and hospitality. They are expected to greet guests warmly, suggest drinks and food options that enhance enjoyment, and ensure orders are completed efficiently and accurately. Knowledge of drink recipes, liquor laws, and wine specials is essential, along with a solid understanding of bar operations and safety procedures.

Beyond serving, bartenders maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, restock necessary supplies, and handle financial transactions such as computing bills and managing tabs. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must adhere to grooming and uniform standards
  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to handle cash and use POS systems

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in bartending or similar role preferred
  • Knowledge of drink recipes and cocktail preparation
  • Understanding of liquor laws and responsible service
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure under pressure
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety standards

Job Duties

  • Greet all guests promptly in a friendly manner
  • Up sell and suggestive sell to guests
  • Delivery of drink and light meal orders to guests in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitor guests’ drinks and anticipate needs
  • Mixing and producing drinks, completing orders of guests and other servers
  • Clean bar, bar walk-ins and liquor storage areas as assigned
  • Fill requisitions to par levels
  • Complete all opening and closing side work such as stocking dishes, silverware, folding napkins, wiping down counters, posting specials
  • Maintain and frequently stock bars with needed items such as wine, draught or bottled beer, mixers ingredients
  • Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks
  • Supply and replenish bar snacks
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive display
  • Display working knowledge of all menu items, including daily specials and prices
  • Present menu, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding food and service
  • Suggestively sell premium brands and foods
  • Take orders from guests or server
  • Display knowledge of drink recipes, drink and wine specials, merchandising
  • Display knowledge of basic drink service and bar terminology
  • Request proof of age from guests when legal age is questioned
  • Prepare and serve cocktail orders in a timely manner
  • Inquire as to whether the guest would like to run a tab
  • Serve guests beverage order according to Hotel ZaZa operating standards
  • Be present at bar at all times
  • Compute bill, accept payment and open and close check
  • Sincerely thank guests for coming and ask them to return again
  • Detect and act upon customer inebriation as trained
  • Display knowledge of liquor laws
  • Adhere to grooming guidelines, wear Z-Pin, and proper uniform standards
  • Follow all proper Hotel safety policies and procedures and use safety equipment as needed
  • Complete other duties as assigned by manager to include cross training
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Balance bank and daily receipts
