Job Description

21c Museum Hotels is a pioneering hospitality company that uniquely blends contemporary art experiences with boutique hotel accommodations and a chef-driven restaurant. Founded with a vision to create immersive environments where art seamlessly intersects with everyday life, 21c Museum Hotels offers guests an unparalleled stay that engages their senses and intellect. Each hotel acts not only as a place to stay but as a vibrant cultural hub, featuring rotating exhibitions of contemporary art that are accessible to the public 24/7, fostering a community of art lovers and travelers alike. With locations in cities across the United States, 21c Museum Hotels has established itself as a leader in the boutique hospitality sector by redefining guest experiences through innovative design, exceptional service, and a commitment to supporting the arts.

The role of Bartender at 21c Museum Hotels centers on delivering outstanding beverage service that complements the hotel’s artistic and welcoming atmosphere. Reporting to the Beverage Manager and Food & Beverage Director, the Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a wide variety of high-quality beverages, including specialty cocktails, wines, spirits, and beers, always adhering to exact recipe standards. The position demands a thorough knowledge of drink ingredients, preparation methods, appropriate glassware, and garnishes, as well as familiarity with the bar and dining menus to provide guests with tailored recommendations and a superior drinking experience.

Beyond technical drink-making skills, the Bartender plays a key role in maintaining smooth and efficient service between the bar and serving staff, ensuring stock levels meet operational needs, and accurately completing daily inventory and income reports. Responsible alcohol service is paramount, with the Bartender verifying that all guests are at least 21 years old and selling beverages in a manner that prioritizes guest welfare. The role also requires adherence to sanitation standards and completion of side work to uphold the cleanliness and orderliness of the bar and restaurant service areas.

This position requires flexible working hours, including nights and weekends, and demands a friendly, positive attitude to create a welcoming environment for both guests and colleagues. Physical stamina is necessary, as the Bartender must stand and walk for prolonged periods and occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ultimately, the Bartender is an ambassador of the 21c brand, demonstrating enthusiasm for the hotel’s mission and its unique cultural convergence of art and hospitality. This opportunity provides a rewarding career path for individuals passionate about beverage service, guest interaction, and working in a creative and dynamic environment where every shift offers something new.
