Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in full service bar or equivalent
  • Accurate mathematic skills
  • Knowledge and experience in alcoholic beverage preparation
  • Thorough knowledge of liquors and wines
  • Knowledge of menu, specials and wine list
  • Understanding of liquor liability laws and accounting procedures
  • Ability to meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Courteous, pleasant and good natured
  • Ability to communicate with and understand average guest
  • Persona compatible with restaurant image
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to handle and account for large sums of money
  • Ability to open beer, liquor and wine bottles frequently
  • Physically able to move and transport filled glass racks
  • Ability to move cases of beer, wine or liquor when bar back is unavailable

Job Qualifications

  • Familiarity with liquor liability laws
  • Knowledge of restaurant menu and specials
  • Understanding of wine and liquor lists and special drink recipes

  • Friendly, courteous and service-oriented personality
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods
  • Capability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly
  • Experience with cash handling and accounting procedures

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve beverages to customers seated at the bar, lounge or dining tables
  • Serve food to guests seated at the bar
  • Arrange and set up beverages, beverage mixes and supplies efficiently and professionally
  • Complete all side work when and as assigned
  • Prepare ingredients needed for mixed beverage recipes
  • Safely use equipment and utensils for beverage preparation
  • Prepare beverages according to prescribed recipes including alcohol content
  • Use proper measurement methods to ensure exact alcohol pour
  • Count and be responsible for cash drawer
  • Operate all functions of bar service independently
  • Take and fill food orders from bar guests using communication equipment
  • Communicate cordially with co-workers
  • Engage guests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Accurately record and account for all items served
  • Maintain security of bar stock inventory
  • Relate to guests with good humor
  • Assist host staff with phone answering
  • Perform varied duties ensuring all aspects of bar service meet standards
