Job Requirements

  • Must have two years of experience in a full-service bar or equivalent
  • Must possess accurate mathematic skills
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in alcoholic beverage preparation
  • Must know various types of liquors and wines and their uses
  • Must understand menu, specials, wine, and liquor lists
  • Must comply with liquor liability laws
  • Must be able to meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Must be courteous, pleasant and good natured
  • Must communicate effectively with guests
  • Must provide a personality compatible with the restaurant's image
  • Must stand or walk for long periods during shifts
  • Must work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must manage and account for large sums of money accurately
  • Must frequently open beer, liquor and wine bottles
  • Must be physically capable of moving and transporting filled glass racks and cases of beverages when no bar back is available

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in full-service bar or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience in preparing alcoholic beverages
  • Thorough understanding of liquors, wines, and their proper use
  • Familiarity with menu, specials, wine list, and liquor recipes
  • Awareness of liquor liability laws
  • Understanding of accounting procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with guests and staff
  • Positive personality compatible with established restaurant image

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve beverages directly to customers at the bar and lounge
  • Arrange and set up beverages, mixes, and supplies efficiently
  • Complete assigned side work as required
  • Prepare ingredients for mixed beverage recipes
  • Use bar equipment and utensils safely
  • Follow recipes precisely including exact alcohol measurements
  • Manage cash drawer and financial transactions accurately
  • Operate bar service independently as needed
  • Take and fulfill food orders from bar guests
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and guests
  • Maintain accurate records of items served
  • Ensure the security and inventory control of bar stock
  • Maintain a friendly and pleasant demeanor with guests
  • Follow all operating procedures for bar service
  • Assist host staff with telephone inquiries
