Job Requirements

Must be 2 years experienced in full service bar or equivalent
Must have accurate mathematic skills
Must know preparation of alcoholic beverages
Must know types of liquors and wines and their uses
Must know menu and specials
Must know wine list
Must know liquor list and recipes for special drinks
Must know liquor liability laws
Must know accounting procedures
Must meet schedule requirements punctually
Must be courteous and pleasant
Must effectively communicate with guests
Must have persona compatible with restaurant image
Must stand or walk long periods
Must work nights, weekends, and holidays
Must accurately handle large sums of money
Must frequently open beer, liquor, and wine bottles
Must be physically able to move glass racks and cases of beer, wine, or liquor when bar back is absent

Job Qualifications

Minimum 2 years experience in a full-service bar or equivalent
Knowledge and experience in alcoholic beverage preparation
Thorough understanding of liquor types, wines, and their appropriate uses
Familiarity with menu, specials, wine and liquor lists, and special drink recipes
Understanding of liquor liability laws
Knowledge of accounting procedures involving cash handling
Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
Pleasant and professional demeanor compatible with restaurant image

Job Duties

Prepare and serve beverages directly to customers at the bar, lounge, and dining tables
Arrange and set up beverages, mixes, and supplies efficiently and professionally according to standard operating procedures
Complete all assigned side work on time
Prepare mixed beverage ingredients accurately following recipes
Safely use equipment and utensils in beverage preparation
Ensure correct alcohol pour measurements using proper methods
Manage and be responsible for the cash drawer
Operate all bar functions independently when necessary
Take and fill food orders from guests seated at the bar using the register system
Communicate clearly and cordially with co-workers and guests
Accurately record and account for all served items
Maintain security of bar stock inventory
Engage warmly and humorously with guests
Perform various duties to uphold bar service standards
Assist host staff by answering telephones
