Job Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of experience in full service bar or equivalent
  • Must have accurate mathematic skills
  • Must have knowledge and experience in preparation of alcoholic beverages
  • Must have thorough knowledge of types of liquors and wine and their distinctions and use
  • Must know menu and specials
  • Must know wine list
  • Must know liquor list and recipes for special drinks
  • Must understand liquor liability laws and knowledge
  • Must know accounting procedures
  • Must be willing and able to meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Must be courteous, pleasant and good natured
  • Must communicate with and understand the average guest
  • Must provide a persona compatible with established image of restaurant
  • Must stand or walk for long periods of time while on duty
  • Must work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must accurately work with and account for large sums of money
  • Must open beer, liquor and wine bottles frequently
  • Must be physically able to move and transport filled glass racks and cases of beer, wine or liquor when bar back is not available

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a full service bar or equivalent
  • Accurate mathematic skills
  • Knowledge and experience in alcoholic beverage preparation
  • Thorough understanding of types of liquors and wines and their appropriate use
  • Familiarity with menu items, specials, wine and liquor lists, and cocktail recipes
  • Knowledge of liquor liability laws
  • Understanding of accounting procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests
  • Pleasant, courteous, and compatible with the restaurant’s image
  • Capable of standing or walking long periods during shifts
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliability in handling large sums of money
  • Physical ability to move and transport filled glass racks and cases of beverages when needed

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve beverages directly to customers seated at the bar and lounge
  • Arrange and set up beverages, mixes, and supplies professionally
  • Complete all assigned side work efficiently
  • Prepare ingredients for mixed beverages according to recipes
  • Use equipment and utensils safely during beverage preparation
  • Ensure exact alcohol pour measures following standard procedures
  • Count and manage the cash drawer accurately
  • Operate full bar service independently when necessary
  • Take and fill food orders for bar guests using the register system
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and guests in a courteous manner
  • Record and account for all served items accurately
  • Maintain security and inventory of bar stock
  • Perform varied duties to uphold bar service standards
  • Assist host staff by answering telephones
