Job Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of experience in full-service bar or equivalent
  • Must have accurate mathematic skills
  • Must have knowledge and experience in preparation of alcoholic beverages
  • Must have thorough knowledge of types of liquors and wine and their distinctions and use
  • Knowledge of menu and specials
  • Knowledge of wine list
  • Knowledge of liquor list and recipes for special drinks
  • Knowledge of liquor liability laws and procedures
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Must meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Be courteous, pleasant and good natured
  • Communicate with and understand the average guest
  • Provide a persona compatible with established image of restaurant
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time while on duty
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Accurately work with and account for large sums of money
  • Open beer, liquor and wine bottles frequently
  • Must be physically able to move and transport filled glass rack and cases of beer, wine or liquor when bar back is not available

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a full-service bar or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience in preparing alcoholic beverages
  • Understanding of liquor and wine types, distinctions, and usage
  • Familiarity with menu, specials, wine list, and liquor recipes
  • Knowledge of liquor liability laws
  • Basic accounting procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests
  • Pleasant and good-natured personality
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve beverages to customers at the bar and lounge area
  • Arrange and set up beverages, mixes, and supplies efficiently according to standard procedures
  • Complete assigned side work
  • Prepare ingredients for mixed beverages recipes
  • Safely use equipment and utensils for beverage preparation
  • Pour beverages adhering to prescribed recipes and exact alcohol measures
  • Manage cash drawer and operate bar functions independently
  • Take and fill food orders from guests at the bar
  • Communicate clearly and courteously with co-workers and guests
  • Accurately record all items served and maintain bar stock security
  • Assist host staff with answering telephones
  • Maintain a pleasant and service-oriented demeanor with guests
