Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in hospitality or bar service preferred
  • Basic math skills necessary for cash handling
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Compliance with all relevant alcohol service laws and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Must communicate well with guests
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops and understand portion sizes
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife to make garnishes, pick up glassware, bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks and reach overhead to retrieve stock
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items
  • Ability to operate keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication style to different audiences

Job Duties

  • Maintain proper and adequate bar setup daily including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments and produce based on daily function projections
  • Maintain stock, cut, and store fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and perishables daily to ensure product quality
  • Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promote and document orders for drinks
  • Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practice prudent portion control
  • Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
  • Input orders into a register at point of sale and create checks for each guest including those served by other beverage servers
  • Receive cash from guests, give change, verify validity of charges, record charges and ensure vouchers are properly executed
  • Lock and store all beverage, food and equipment items, deposit cash drops and secure bank
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
