Job Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of experience in full service bar or equivalent
  • Must have accurate mathematic skills
  • Must have knowledge and experience in preparation of alcoholic beverages
  • Must have thorough knowledge of types of liquors and wine and their distinctions and use
  • Must have knowledge of menu, specials, wine list, liquor list and recipes for special drinks
  • Must understand liquor liability laws and accounting procedures
  • Must meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Must be courteous, pleasant and good natured
  • Must communicate with and understand the average guest
  • Must provide a persona compatible with established image of restaurant
  • Must stand or walk for long periods of time while on duty
  • Must work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must accurately work with and account for large sums of money
  • Must open beer, liquor and wine bottles frequently
  • Must be physically able to move and transport filled glass rack and cases of beer, wine or liquor when bar back is not available

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a full-service bar or equivalent
  • Proficient in accurate mathematical calculations
  • Knowledge and experience in preparing alcoholic beverages
  • Thorough understanding of liquor types, wines, and recipes for special drinks
  • Familiarity with liquor liability laws
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Ability to communicate clearly with guests and coworkers
  • Pleasant and courteous demeanor
  • Ability to operate bar equipment and manage inventory independently
  • Capacity to handle cash transactions responsibly

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve beverages to customers at the bar, lounge, and dining tables
  • Arrange and set up beverages, mixes, and supplies following standard operating procedures
  • Complete all assigned side work promptly and efficiently
  • Prepare ingredients for mixed beverage recipes accurately
  • Safely use bartending equipment and utensils
  • Measure and pour alcohol according to prescribed recipes
  • Manage cash drawer and conduct accurate cash handling
  • Operate the bar service independently when necessary
  • Take and fulfill food orders from guests at the bar using the register system
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with guests and coworkers
  • Record and account for all items served
  • Maintain bar stock inventory and ensure its security
  • Perform varied duties to maintain bar service quality
  • Assist host staff with telephone duties as needed
