Job Requirements

  • Be of legal age to serve alcohol according to state law
  • Be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language of work location
  • Be able to perform simple mathematical calculations and handle money
  • Have basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits and be familiar with standard drink recipes
  • Have the ability to remain stationary for long periods of time, up to 10 hours at times
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Be willing to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Communicate effectively with guests
  • Assume 100 percent responsibility for quality guest experience
  • Obtain information regarding specials, side work, etc. from a manager at the start of shift
  • Have thorough knowledge of company bar standards and use them to manage bar effectively
  • Work as a team with all personnel
  • Maintain running side work throughout shift and complete closing side work at end of shift as assigned
  • Work with others to keep areas clean and stocked
  • Prepare and serve drinks consistent with company recipes
  • Learn regulars' names and preferences
  • Accept payments, process credit cards, and make change
  • Wash and sterilize glassware
  • Maintain bottles and glasses in attractive and functional manner
  • Assist restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
  • Adhere to uniform guidelines
  • Memorize floor chart, table numbers, and steps of service
  • Maintain working knowledge of bar drinks and trends
  • Be friendly, outgoing, and have good communication skills
  • Be organized and able to think and act quickly and effectively
  • Retain self-composure
  • Be an enthusiastic and convincing salesperson
  • Be customer sensitive and timely
  • Take pride in personal appearance and dedication to job

Job Duties

  • Greet customers and learn about their beverage preferences

  • Perform side work duties during and at the end of shifts
