Job Description
This position is a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) role assigned to the Club operations at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (Wright-Patt AFB). Wright-Patt AFB is a major United States Air Force base located near Dayton, Ohio, known for its important role in aviation research, development, and logistics, as well as providing quality facilities and services to military personnel and their families. The Club operations at Wright-Patt AFB offer social and recreational amenities to enhance the quality of life for base members and their guests, including dining, events, and bar services. This position is critical to the smooth and effective operation of the Club, helping to provide a welcoming and friendly environment for service members and their communities.
The purpose of this position is to mix and serve pre-mixed alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a limited service bar within the Club. This role requires attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately. The employee in this position will frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds and will be engaged in continuous standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. These physical demands highlight the active and dynamic nature of the role. Additionally, this position demands adherence to strict protocols including recognizing intoxicated or unruly patrons and taking appropriate actions to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.
This NAF position is open to everyone and applicants will be categorized based on preference and priority eligibility considerations such as Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Outside Applicant Veteran status, Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, and Transition Hiring Preference. Applicants must provide proof of eligibility with their applications by the closing date of June 22, 2026. Experience requirements include having prior experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, knowledge of proper proportions and mixtures, and familiarity with cash handling procedures. Candidates must be able to lift and move various weights frequently and complete a pre-employment physical. The successful applicant will be required to meet the minimum age requirement for serving alcoholic beverages and obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete equivalent food handler's training. Clear communication skills and the ability to interact with the public effectively are essential for this role. A favorable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required before employment.
This position does not allow for education to be substituted for experience, and any education credentials obtained from foreign institutions must be accompanied by appropriate equivalency proof. Job Requirements
- Must have experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale
- Must be able to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolve issues
- Must follow cash handling procedures
- Must be physically capable of lifting objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds frequently and up to and over 40 pounds occasionally
- Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical
- Must meet minimum age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages
- Must obtain Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler's training
- Must communicate clearly with customers and possess public dealing skills
- Must successfully complete and pass a Tier 1 Level background investigation
- Must provide proof of eligibility by the application deadline
- Education substitution for experience is not allowed
- Education credentials from foreign institutions must have equivalency proof
