The Monterey Beach Hotel in Monterey, CA, is seeking a skilled Bartender to join its hospitality team. This role is hourly and focuses on ensuring superior guest satisfaction through efficient service and high-quality beverage preparation. As a Bartender, the individual will be responsible for the comprehensive setup and breakdown of the bar area, meticulous attention to inventory control, and adherence to all state liquor laws. A critical aspect of this position involves maintaining a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor at all times while being attentive and responsive to guests’ needs. The Bartender must ensure that all beverages and cocktails are prepared and served according to the hotel’s stringent standards for mixing and presentation. The role requires the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize duties, and uphold cleanliness and safety guidelines consistently.
Additional responsibilities include following prescribed procedures for serving liquor responsibly to avoid issues with intoxicated guests, responding promptly and professionally to any guest concerns or incidents, and complying with all hotel policies and safety rules. The Bartender will also need to demonstrate knowledge of the hotel’s services and facilities to provide comprehensive guest assistance when required. This position demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand for the entire shift and occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in hotel or related field preferred
- Flexible schedule with availability for long hours sometimes
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull objects
- Ability to stand for the entire shift
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented attitude
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
- Attendance at all required hotel meetings and trainings
- Regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in hotel or related field preferred

Job Duties
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees
- Set up the bar according to hotel standards and ensure guests are served promptly and efficiently
- Prepare beverages and cocktails according to the hotel’s mixing and presentation standards
- Serve guests with all beverage requirements in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
- Break down the bar after functions, storing liquor, supplies, and equipment as per hotel standards
- Follow all state liquor laws
- Know hotel services and facilities
- Abide by all hotel policies and safety rules
- Follow procedures in serving liquor responsibly to avoid issues with intoxicated guests
- Respond to guests’ problems, complaints, and accidents
- Be familiar with fire exit and extinguisher locations and how to operate them
- Keep the bar and service areas clean and tidy during service
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction
