The Falcon Club at the Air Force Academy in Colorado is a distinguished establishment dedicated to enhancing the morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) activities for members of the Air Force and Space Force community. Known for its vibrant social atmosphere and full-service facilities, the Falcon Club serves as a central hub for relaxation, socialization, and entertainment for military personnel, their families, and guests. As part of the non-appropriated fund (NAF) operations, the club operates with a focus on supporting the community and providing exceptional service without direct taxpayer funding. This position is a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) role, specifically assigned to the Falcon Club at the Air Force Academy, Colorado. It is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing full bar service in an environment that supports military traditions and community values. This role involves the operation of a full-service bar where the incumbent will demonstrate their expertise in mixing and serving a wide range of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to patrons. The position requires familiarity with a variety of drink recipes, including popular cocktails such as Margaritas, Zombies, and Singapore Slings, which require precise preparation techniques as no pre-mix versions are used.

The role demands excellent customer service skills as well as the ability to manage monetary transactions accurately, including accepting payments, operating cash registers, and charging accounts appropriately. Accountability and proper operation of the bar’s inventory and receipts are crucial responsibilities of this role. Physical stamina is also necessary since the job involves frequent lifting and pushing of items ranging from five to over forty pounds. Furthermore, the role requires adherence to cash handling protocols and the ability to recognize and tactfully manage intoxicated or unruly patrons, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all guests.

The position entails working an uncommon tour which includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Applicants must meet age requirements applicable to alcohol service and be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete equivalent training. Job Requirements

  • Must complete a background investigation with favorable results
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical
  • Must be willing to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and possess skill in dealing with the public
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds
  • Must successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)
  • Must meet the qualification, eligibility, and background requirements
  • Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or authorized residency
  • Must register for Selective Service if applicable
  • Must be able to provide identity documents to facilitate installation access
  • Direct deposit is required
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
  • A probationary period may be required

Job Qualifications

  • Must have experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, which includes knowledge of a wide variety of beverages and ability to combine ingredients such as liquors, soda water, sugar, bitters, and fruit and the ability to mix exotic drinks
  • Must be able to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed
  • Must be able to follow cash handling procedures
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds
  • Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training

Job Duties

  • Operates a full service bar
  • Mixes and serves all types of alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks to order, following a variety of established recipes
  • Delivers drinks to bar waiters or serves directly to patrons
  • Receives payments or charges to member's account as appropriate
  • Washes glasses and other bar equipment
  • Prepares garnishes for mixed drinks
  • May help stock service bar or portable bar for catered functions
  • Responsible for the proper operation of the bar, receipts, and inventory accountability
  • Accepts money, operates a cash register, and makes change
  • May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability
  • Performs other duties as assigned
