The hospitality family at the Newberry Hotel is currently expanding, and they are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about starting or advancing their career in the hospitality industry. One such exciting opportunity available is the Bartender position. This role is an essential part of the hotel’s food and beverage team, with responsibilities centered on mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standard recipes, while also providing warm and efficient service to bar and restaurant patrons. The Newberry Hotel Bartender must be knowledgeable about beverage preparation, be TIPS certified, and have experience in bartending. The working environment is both indoor and dynamic, with physical demands such as standing and walking for extended periods. The role includes working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous bartending experience
- TIPS certification
- Knowledge of food service regulations
- Ability to maintain positive client relationships
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English proficiently
- Able to work in fast paced environment
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Must be able to stand and walk for entire shift
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds frequently
- Must be able to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Previous banquet experience preferred
- Must be TIPS certified
- Must know how to mix common cocktails
- Must have experience working as a bartender
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language proficiently
- Excellent conflict-resolution skills
- Able to work in fast paced environment
- Able to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to speak other languages helpful in multicultural work environment
Job Duties
- Mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks
- Serves wine and other draft or bottled beer
- Orders and replenishes liquors and supplies
- Places bottled goods and glasses to make an attractive display
- May slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks
- May prepare appetizers
- Conducts an inventory monthly
- Performs in compliance with established company policies and procedures
- Performs in compliance with all state and local regulations
- Responsible for knowing and recognizing in-state and out-of-state driver’s licenses and state-issued identification cards
- Responsible for keeping bar area clean
- Maintains a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Adheres to all safety and brand standards
- Responds to guest requests and complaints timely, efficiently, appropriately and in a friendly manner
- Maintains professional image at all times through appearance and dress
- Follows company policies and procedures
- Operates in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws including OSHA, EEOC, wage and hour, and health code laws
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
