The position of Bartender at Punch House represents an exciting opportunity to be part of a creative and passionate bar team within the basement venue of Thalia Hall, a historic and lively entertainment hub. Punch House is celebrated for its legendary cocktail program and is a welcoming and fun-loving space frequented by both locals and concert-goers. The role involves providing an exceptional guest experience by serving expertly crafted drinks, maintaining a professional and positive presence, and contributing creative ideas to evolve the bar's offerings. Working as a Bartender here means actively engaging with the Chicago bar community and staying updated with the latest cocktail trends to keep the menu fresh and appealing.

The bartender will work approximately 3 to 4 shifts weekly and is responsible for executing clean and efficient closing duties when assigned. Collaboration is a key part of the role, working alongside barbacks and management to ensure smooth daily operations. The position requires maintaining the cleanliness and organization of both front and back bar areas, guaranteeing that service standards and health safety guidelines are consistently met. The ideal candidate should have a genuine interest in cocktail history and creativity, along with strong communication skills to build rapport with guests and coworkers in a high-volume environment. Job Requirements

  • minimum of 1 year of full-service restaurant experience
  • minimum of 1 year of bartending experience
  • strong knowledge of spirits and craft cocktails
  • genuine interest in cocktail history and creativity
  • effective communication skills
  • comfortable working late hours in a fast-paced environment
  • current BASSET certification or ability to obtain prior to start
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 40 lbs using proper technique, with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties
