This is an hourly, non-exempt position paying $16.90 per hour plus tips. The role of a Bartender at Out West Restaurant Group is integral in providing an exceptional dining experience by serving drinks with a friendly, prompt attitude while exceeding customer expectations. The bartender will craft drinks using proper safety, tools, and recipe standards, maintaining high sanitation and cleanliness in the bar area. The position demands detailed knowledge of the menu to recommend and upsell food and beverages effectively. Teamwork is essential as bartenders also support other areas of the restaurant when needed, contributing to a smoothly run operation. Providing expertise and support to servers concerning beverage selections is a key part of the job, helping enhance guest satisfaction. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, standing for extended periods, and performing various physical activities such as bending, reaching, and carrying up to 30 pounds. Responsible Beverage Service Certification is required for California employees, which can be completed during training or within 60 days after the start date. The whole team is committed to food safety, cleanliness, and maintaining safety standards to ensure all customers have an AUS-SOME dining experience. Employment is at-will, and the company complies with all California wage, hour and equal pay laws along with providing reasonable accommodations according to state requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 30 lbs
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and stooping
  • Manual dexterity to handle glassware, utensils, and technology systems

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous bartending or customer service experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of beverage preparation and mixology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Responsible Beverage Service Certification for California positions

Job Duties

  • Provide friendly, prompt, and attentive service to customers at the bar guided by each guest's preferences and cues
  • Craft every drink to perfection using proper safety, tools, and recipe standards while serving customers responsibly
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of food and drink menu and recommend and upsell items
  • Support all areas of the restaurant as business needs arise, demonstrating teamwork
