Job Requirements
- Minimum one year restaurant bartending experience
- must meet minimum age to serve alcohol based on applicable state law
- able to obtain and hold a valid bartender's license
- minimum age 18 years or older
- formal bartending training preferred
- knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, preparation methods and garnishments
- knowledge of local, state and federal liquor laws and regulations
- thorough understanding of safe and perceptive service
- excellent customer service skills
- verbal communication skills
- basic math skills and ability to handle cash
- ability to work with point of sale systems
- highly organized and able to prioritize needs effectively
- able to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays
- ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
- ability to maneuver up to 150 pounds occasionally
- ability to set up and take down banquet fixtures
- ability to push and pull carts weighing up to 200 pounds occasionally
- ability to stand for extended periods constantly

Job Duties
- Pleasantly greeting guests as they approach the bar
- promoting house drinks and utilizing up-selling skills to maximize revenues
- preparing beverages requested by customers, adhering to established pouring standards and drink recipes
- setting up the bar including liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware and supplies
- performing pre-shift and post-shift side work such as emptying/filling ice-bins and replenishing snacks
- maintaining knowledge of bar inventory and wine selection
- inventorying unused liquor and beverages and ensuring liquor is secured
- maintaining a complete knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation methods and garnishes for each drink
- making appropriate service recovery gestures to ensure guest satisfaction
- stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
- inspecting the bar daily for cleanliness and proper operation
- ensuring proper cleaning of the bar area
- promoting teamwork and quality service through communication and coordination with other departments
- adhering to legal and Choice Hotels policies and standards for beverage service
- checking guests for proper identification and managing methods of payment
- alerting management of any service or safety issues
- handling cash, checks and credit cards in accordance with hotel policies
- creating 100 percent guest satisfaction by delivering genuine hospitality and exceeding guest expectations
- resolving guest problems with empathy and effective solutions
- performing other duties as required by management to maintain guest satisfaction and hospitality standards
