Job Description
Cooper's Hawk is a distinctive hospitality and lifestyle brand that seamlessly blends a Napa-style tasting room, wine-inspired retail offerings, and a full-service restaurant and bar to deliver an unparalleled guest experience. Founded in 2005, Cooper's Hawk has grown to become a leader in curated dining, wine, and travel experiences, catering to a broad audience of wine enthusiasts and casual diners alike. The company is renowned for its award-winning wines and its extensive Wine Club, which is arguably one of the largest in the world. This club offers exclusive membership benefits, including access to unique culinary events and travel experiences, reinforcing Cooper's Hawk's commitment to crafting a lifestyle brand that goes well beyond just wine and dining. Adding to its culinary portfolio, the introduction of Piccolo Buco by Cooper’s Hawk brings the vibrant and authentic flavors of Rome to their guests, further enriching the brand’s modern yet casual dining experience.
As a Bartender at Cooper's Hawk, you play a pivotal role in crafting memorable guest interactions through a warm, knowledgeable, and skillful approach to beverage service. This role is more than just mixing drinks; it is about delivering experiences that guests will remember and want to toast to. The position demands a commitment to excellence, as bartenders are expected to maintain full knowledge of the food, drink, and wine menus and to follow all service steps meticulously. Bartenders at Cooper's Hawk must arrive prepared, ensuring their station is fully stocked and tools are in perfect working order before the shift begins. Beyond technical skills, this role emphasizes genuine customer engagement - from greeting guests by name and offering tailored wine and cocktail recommendations to educating guests about the benefits of the Cooper's Hawk Wine Club and inviting them to join the esteemed community.
This role also requires an adaptive, team-oriented mindset with responsibilities including maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar, assisting with retail and other team activities as needed, and executing opening and closing duties to ensure seamless operations. As part of their commitment to excellent service, bartenders must communicate effectively with servers, food runners, hosts, and kitchen staff, ensuring that orders are accurate and delivered promptly. A passion for continuous learning, especially relating to wine and cocktails, is highly valued to continually enhance the guest experience.
Cooper's Hawk offers a comprehensive benefits package aimed at supporting both personal well-being and professional growth. Team members enjoy substantial dining and retail discounts, monthly wine tastings, medical and dental insurance options, 401(k) plans with company match, paid time off, flexible scheduling, early pay access, and wellness support. The company also invests in staff development through wine and culinary education programs, career growth flight plans, and recognition programs that reward milestones and successful referrals.
Working at Cooper's Hawk means joining a company that values diversity and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, or any other protected characteristic. The company strives to provide reasonable accommodations throughout the employment process.
This position is ideal for individuals with at least one year of bartending experience in high-volume settings who are capable of multitasking and maintaining attentiveness in fast-paced environments. A basic understanding of wine is preferred, though a willingness to learn and grow is essential. Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift and the capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays rounds out the expectations for candidates aiming to thrive in this dynamic and rewarding role.
