Job Description
Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States, operating multiple locations and delivering exceptional dining experiences. Outback Steakhouse, established in March 1988, is a renowned Australian-themed restaurant known for its casual yet distinctive dining atmosphere that combines great food with a fun environment. The company prides itself on its strong culture of respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm, where employees, known as "Outbackers," are treated with fairness and given opportunities for growth, all while providing customers with memorable dining experiences. Out West Restaurant Group values inclusivity and equal opportunity, adhering strictly to federal and state laws to ensure no discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic occurs throughout their hiring and employment practices.
This position is an hourly, non-exempt role with a pay rate of $16.90 per hour plus tips. The role is for a Bartender at Outback Steakhouse, where the successful candidate will play a vital part in crafting an enjoyable dining atmosphere. Responsibilities include exceeding customer expectations at the bar by delivering friendly, prompt, and attentive service, adapting each interaction according to the guest's preferences. The Bartender will master the drink menu, preparing drinks safely and correctly according to recipe and safety standards, and will also support servers with beverage recommendations. Teamwork is crucial, requiring the Bartender to assist various restaurant areas as business demands, ensuring a seamless guest experience.
This role demands a strong commitment to food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and job safety standards. Candidates must be capable of working in both hot and cold environments, standing or walking for up to eight hours per shift, and performing physical activities such as bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Special emphasis is placed on manual dexterity to handle glassware, utensils, and technology systems efficiently. Additionally, the ability to work in low or dim lighting and maintain visual acuity is necessary.
The Bartender position offers a hospitable culture recognizing hard work, perseverance, and leadership. Employees have access to comprehensive health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, as well as paid sick leave per California law. The company promotes growth opportunities through various training programs including the Shift Leader program with extensive on-the-job training. Scheduling options are flexible to support both employees and guest service needs. Staff enjoy tasty perks such as meal discounts and participation in a company-sponsored Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Out West Restaurant Group also honors holidays by closing on Thanksgiving and Christmas, promoting quality family time for its employees.
Out West Restaurant Group has been recognized with several accolades including the Monitor 200 Award, ranking in the top 50 franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years, and the International Franchise Association's Franchisee of the Year Award in 2022 for excellence in community service. The organization is deeply committed to supporting community non-profits such as California Care and CORE, which provide critical assistance to restaurant employees and their families.
Employment with Out West Restaurant Group is at-will, meaning either party may terminate it at any time with or without cause or notice, in compliance with applicable laws. The company ensures all employees complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify) and fosters a safe and respectful workplace as part of its commitment to enforcing California wage and hour laws, equal pay, and reasonable accommodations. Overall, this role provides a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic, rewarding team dedicated to service excellence and career growth within the vibrant dining industry.
