Job Description
Bear's Smokehouse BBQ is a family-owned and operated restaurant group specializing in authentic, high-quality BBQ cuisine. Known for its commitment to great food and genuine hospitality, Bear's Smokehouse BBQ prioritizes a positive team culture where every team member feels valued, respected, and supported. The company believes that the foundation of excellent food service begins with building a strong, cohesive team that works hard, supports one another, and enjoys the journey alongside delivering exceptional guest experiences. The restaurant group is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, safe, and healthy workplace environment where open communication, teamwork, and clear expectations are key pillars of daily operations. Employees at Bear's are encouraged to grow their skills, earn competitive pay, and be part of an organization that truly cares about its people and its culture.
The Bartender role at Bear's Smokehouse BBQ is vital to creating a vibrant and welcoming bar environment that enhances the overall guest experience. Bartenders are responsible for preparing and serving beverages, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic, strictly following company recipes to maintain consistency and quality. Beyond mixing drinks, bartenders at Bear's represent the company brand through exceptional customer service, maintaining a positive atmosphere, and upholding responsible alcohol service policies including verifying guest identification. This position demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills as bartenders engage with guests, manage crowds, and proactively anticipate guest needs to ensure satisfaction. Keeping the bar clean, organized, and well-stocked is essential to smooth operations, including washing glassware, maintaining bar equipment, and managing inventory levels. Bartenders contribute to the team's success by collaborating with other staff members, assisting in training new bar personnel, and promoting a cooperative work environment.
This role requires flexibility to align with the restaurant’s needs, which typically involves working evenings, weekends, and holidays. The bartender schedule is adjusted weekly to ensure operational success and optimal guest service. Candidates with one to two years of experience in restaurants or bars, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a friendly, team-oriented attitude are ideal for this position. Additionally, all bartenders must successfully complete Bear's training program and obtain a TIPS alcohol certification within eight weeks of starting. Physical demands include prolonged standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment typical of a busy restaurant setting. Joining Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ means becoming part of a team that values not only skill and professionalism but also creating a fun and respectful workplace where every employee can thrive.
