Job Description
DCH Health System is a well-established healthcare organization committed to providing high-quality services and a positive environment for both patients and employees. Within its facilities, it operates various service points, including a Starbucks coffee kiosk that aims to offer a premium coffee experience to hospital visitors, patients, and staff. This kiosk reflects the same high standards of service and quality upheld by the health system. The Starbucks kiosk serves as a convenient spot where customers can enjoy a variety of Starbucks beverages, snacks, and merchandise while experiencing customer service excellence in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
The Barista role at DCH Health System’s Starbucks coffee kiosk is crucial for maintaining the daily operations and ensuring all customers receive their orders efficiently and accurately. This position involves preparing Starbucks beverages strictly according to Starbucks recipes, operating a multi-faceted point-of-sale (POS) system, handling cash with accuracy following stringent internal audit protocols, and maintaining cleanliness to meet high health and safety standards. The Barista will begin each shift by counting and setting up their cash drawer, adhering to DCH’s cash handling policies, and will be responsible for counting down and reconciling receipts at the end of shifts alongside supervisors. Stock management is another key duty as the Barista must keep track of inventory, ensure timely restocking, and properly organize product displays.
Working at the Starbucks kiosk within a hospital brings additional responsibilities such as frequent cleaning and sanitizing of the work and dining areas which may include vacuuming carpets, emptying trash cans, and maintaining a neat environment in compliance with Health Department, Ever Clean, and TJC inspections. The role requires excellent multi-tasking abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work collaboratively with other cafeteria and hospital staff while providing courteous and helpful service to all customers. The position is typically Monday to Friday but may require schedule changes depending on the hospital or departmental needs. The healthcare environment demands that Baristas strictly adhere to DCH Behavioral Standards by fostering positive interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and customers to contribute to a harmonious and professional workplace.
In summary, the Starbucks Barista at DCH Health System is not just a barista but a customer-focused professional who supports daily kiosk operations with precision, cleanliness, and excellent hospitality, ensuring that every customer leaves satisfied. This role also demands accuracy with cash handling, safety-conscious conduct, and the ability to manage inventory and product presentation thoughtfully. It offers a unique opportunity to work in a hospitality role within a healthcare setting, enhancing customer experience while supporting the hospital’s mission of care and service.
