SSP America is a leading global food and beverage operator specializing in travel locations, including airports. The company operates multiple restaurant venues inside the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, providing convenient, high-quality dining options for travelers passing through this busy transportation hub. SSP America is committed to offering delicious food, exceptional customer service, and a welcoming atmosphere across all its outlets. Their presence in the Reno-Tahoe International Airport reflects their dedication to maintaining high standards of service excellence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The role of Barista at SSP America is an integral position focused on delivering outstanding customer experiences through the efficient preparation and service of espresso-based beverages and other menu items. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage of $21.60, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes a 401k matching program. The position requires open availability, including weekend shifts, to meet the demands of airport travelers. Baristas at SSP America play a critical role in creating an inviting dining atmosphere by providing excellent customer service, maintaining cleanliness and service standards, and handling transactions accurately and promptly.
The Barista is responsible for processing customer orders quickly and accurately by using the point-of-sale system, preparing cold, frozen, and hot drinks, as well as serving a variety of food items. The role also involves managing cash transactions, making change, and ensuring proper cash management throughout the shift. This position demands attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a team setting. Baristas must maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning equipment and utensils, sweeping, mopping, and dusting regularly during their shift to uphold health and safety standards.
Candidates for this position should have at least six months of experience in a food service environment, with previous experience as a Barista highly preferred. They need to demonstrate the ability to prepare espresso beverages independently with properly textured milk suitable for latte art. Essential skills include verbal and written proficiency in English, basic mathematical skills for cash handling, and a valid food handler's permit if required by local regulations. The role also requires the physical ability to stand for extended periods and work in confined spaces.
SSP America values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer, ensuring that all hiring decisions are free from discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, age, disability, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic. The company is considerate of applicants' needs and will provide reasonable accommodations during the application and interview process as mandated by law. Joining SSP America means being part of a team that prioritizes quality service, employee growth, and guest satisfaction in an airport setting where speed and efficiency are paramount.
