Job Description

SpartanNash, a proudly recognized member of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, is a dynamic food solutions company dedicated to delivering the essential ingredients for a better life. As a major distributor, wholesaler, and retailer with a comprehensive global supply chain network, SpartanNash distributes an extensive range of grocery and household goods, including fresh produce and the renowned Our Family® product line, to locations across all 50 states in the United States. The company maintains a diverse and highly skilled workforce encompassing roles from bakery managers and order selectors to IT developers, finance executives, HR partners, and export specialists. This diverse team plays a pivotal role in serving a wide array of customers that include national accounts, independent and chain grocers, e-commerce retailers, U.S. military commissaries and exchanges, and SpartanNash’s own brick-and-mortar grocery stores, pharmacies, and fuel centers.

At SpartanNash, there is a commitment to a 'People First' culture, characterized by a robust and competitive Total Rewards benefits package, and an inclusive work environment where associate development, success recognition, open communication, and belonging are prioritized. The company stands as an Equal Opportunity Employer, focused on providing fair employment to all individuals, including those with disabilities and veterans. However, it is important to note that SpartanNash does not sponsor work visas for this position.

This particular role is based at the location 1814 Breton Rd SE in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It involves serving as an integral part of the coffee shop team, responsible for preparing an array of coffee shop beverages and food items. The role requires the ability to operate a cash register efficiently to process payments promptly while maintaining high standards of customer service that are courteous and helpful, making every customer interaction positive and welcoming.

In detail, the position entails brewing, mixing, and blending coffee shop beverages to meet established standards, preparing food items according to specific procedures, and ensuring all food and beverages are handled safely within a clean working environment. Candidates must be proficient with the operation of cash registers, handling transactions involving cash, checks, credit cards, gift certificates, and coupons. The role also demands maintaining stock levels, rotating coffee items and merchandise displays, and being knowledgeable about current store programs and product locations.

Furthermore, the role includes responsibilities such as notifying department leads or managers when stock needs replenishing, complying with all company policies related to security, cash handling, and product management, and upholding sanitation and safety standards. Additional duties involve communicating store programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers, following PPE, safety, food safety, and cleaning guidelines, and contributing to guest experience excellence.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift or move items up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, as well as standing and walking for extended periods, with frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and turning. The work environment reflects that of a typical retail store with varied temperatures, moderate noise levels, and occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Travel requirements vary depending on the assignment.

Joining SpartanNash means becoming a valued member of a company that not only aims to deliver high-quality food solutions but also fosters a supportive and growth-oriented workplace culture. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are customer-focused, organized, and eager to contribute to a vibrant team serving communities nationwide.
