Job Description

Blue Bottle Coffee is a renowned specialty coffee roaster and retailer committed to connecting people worldwide to delicious, high-quality coffee. Established with a passion for coffee, Blue Bottle emphasizes sustainability, craftsmanship, and community building. The company operates cafes and roasteries that highlight meticulous preparation from seed to cup, delivering an exceptional coffee experience. Blue Bottle’s approach is grounded in ethical sourcing, environmental responsibility, and fostering meaningful relationships with local communities, employees, and coffee producers. This commitment creates a vibrant workplace culture focused on innovation, learning, and the shared love of coffee.

The Barista role at Blue Bottle Coffee is pivotal in delivering the company’s mission of excellent coffee craftsmanship and sustainable practices. A Barista at Blue Bottle is not simply someone who prepares coffee; they are ambassadors of the brand’s values, offering warm hospitality and exceptional service. The role involves mastering various brewing and coffee preparation methods to craft beverages that delight customers. Baristas engage deeply with the product by partaking in regular tastings, cuppings, and training sessions designed to enhance their palate and knowledge. Beyond beverage preparation, this role includes food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and order in the cafe, and supporting the overall guest experience.

Blue Bottle Coffee encourages Baristas to contribute to a positive and inclusive environment by fostering community connections within the cafe. Passion for sustainability is essential, as Baristas help strive towards company-wide environmental goals. Working at Blue Bottle offers opportunities for professional growth through structured training via Blue Bottle Academy, ongoing education, and hands-on learning experiences. The position demands physical stamina and dexterity, requiring employees to be on their feet for long periods, perform precision work with espresso equipment, and handle moderate lifting duties.

This position offers an hourly wage of $17.20 plus tips, which can range from $5 to $9 per shift hour, reflecting the value Blue Bottle places on its skilled Baristas. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, availability for shifts across mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Blue Bottle is also dedicated to fostering an equitable workplace. The company embraces diversity, providing reasonable accommodations to employees, and promotes a respectful and inclusive culture. Blue Bottle participates in E-Verify to confirm work authorization for all employees.

Overall, joining Blue Bottle Coffee as a Barista means becoming part of a dynamic, mission-driven company dedicated to elevating coffee experience through superior craftsmanship, hospitable service, and a commitment to sustainability and community. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about coffee and eager to grow within a supportive, innovative, and environmentally conscious company.
