Job Description
Oak View Group (OVG) is a globally recognized leader in venue development, management, and premium hospitality services within the live event industry. With a passionate commitment to excellence, OVG manages some of the most prominent arenas, stadiums, and entertainment venues worldwide, providing remarkable experiences for audiences, athletes, and clients alike. Dedicated to innovation and superior service, OVG specializes in creating immersive environments that support both entertainment and athlete performance, making it a key player in the sports hospitality sector.
Within this dynamic environment, the Phoenix Mercury WNBA team benefits from a specialized Player Performance Dining program managed by OVG. This program is strategically designed to support elite athletes through thoughtfully prepared meals, hydration strategies, and recovery-focused nutrition. By blending expert culinary skills with sports nutrition science, the program aims to enhance the performance, health, and recovery of Mercury players throughout their training and competitive seasons.
The role of the Barista within the Phoenix Mercury WNBA Player Performance Dining team is integral in delivering high-quality, nutritionally informed beverages that contribute significantly to athlete fueling, hydration, and recovery. Unlike traditional cafe positions, this role requires a dedication to understanding the dietary needs and goals specific to elite athletes. Baristas will prepare fresh smoothies, protein shakes, recovery beverages, and specialty coffee drinks, all aligned with precise nutritional guidelines established by the team’s culinary and nutrition staff.
Reporting directly to the Team Chef, the Barista will collaborate closely with chefs, nutritionists, and training personnel to ensure that every beverage served supports training objectives and recovery protocols. Responsibilities extend beyond simple beverage preparation to include maintaining an organized and sanitary workspace that complies with health and food safety regulations. The Barista must ensure consistent quality and accurate portioning of ingredients, manage inventory carefully, and maintain sensitivity to allergens and dietary restrictions.
This role demands excellent communication skills to interact professionally and discreetly with athletes, coaches, and staff, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment that prioritizes athletic wellness. Serving at the Player Performance Dining program means being part of a dedicated team focused on excellence and athlete success, where every smoothie and coffee drink is crafted with purpose.
The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $21.00 and includes access to valuable benefits for part-time employees, such as a 401(k) Savings Plan with matching contributions. The role is designed to accommodate the flexible scheduling needs of the WNBA season, including training, practice, and game days. It is an excellent opportunity for experienced beverage professionals interested in sports nutrition and hospitality to make a meaningful impact within the elite athlete community. This position will remain open until June 12, 2026, ensuring ample time for qualified candidates to apply and integrate into this specialized, high-performance environment.
