The Barista role at Merit Coffee involves more than just preparing beverages; it is focused on crafting exceptional customer experiences for travelers passing through the airport. Baristas at Merit Coffee work with a range of coffee and espresso equipment and are responsible for preparing, presenting, and serving tea, coffee, and espresso drinks following established recipes and presentation standards. In addition to beverage preparation, Baristas at Merit Coffee help maintain a clean and welcoming environment by dismantling and cleaning coffee-making equipment and regularly restocking supplies.   • Experience in customer service or food service preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic math skills for cash handling
  • Ability to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work under pressure

Job Duties

  • Warmly greets, acknowledges, and takes guests' drink and food orders within 30 seconds of entry
  • Operates coffee-making equipment and dismantles and cleans machinery as needed
  • Prepares and presents beverages according to established recipe and presentation standards
  • Accurately totals, processes, and collects payments using the point-of-sale system
  • Handles money, processes credit and debit card payments, and complies with cash handling and loss prevention policies
  • Remains knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the restaurant's menu and products
  • Creates and delivers first-class experiences for the traveling public
