Arapahoe Libraries is a forward-thinking and inclusive public library system dedicated to enriching lives and strengthening communities through access to information, technology, and lifelong learning opportunities. Known for their commitment to collaboration, equity, and innovation, Arapahoe Libraries operates multiple branches offering diverse programming and services that engage a wide range of patrons across all age groups. With a vibrant culture centered on curiosity and exploration, the organization fosters a welcoming environment that encourages personal growth and community connection. The library system's motto, "Let's Find Out," encapsulates their dedication to shared discovery and fostering an informed, connected community. Joining Arapahoe Libraries means becoming part of a team that values diversity, equity, and inclusion as foundational principles guiding all aspects of their work.

The Barista - Library Specialist position at Smoky Hill Library is a unique blended role that combines customer-facing café service with support and assistance on the library floor. This part-time role with a 30-hour workweek offers an engaging and dynamic work environment where employees spend approximately 75% of their time preparing and serving quality beverages and food items while maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards in the café. The remaining 25% is spent assisting library patrons with their questions, providing technology support, managing materials, and promoting library programs and resources. This hybrid position requires adaptability, patience, and excellent communication skills to ensure patrons receive friendly, efficient service whether ordering a cappuccino or seeking help with library resources.

In this role, the successful candidate will create warm and positive experiences for patrons, demonstrating professionalism and reliability while working in a fast-paced café atmosphere. They will also collaborate closely with the library team to maintain shelves, organize displays, and support community engagement initiatives that enhance the library experience. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for evenings and Saturdays, is essential. The role supports Arapahoe Libraries' mission by blending service with connection and curiosity, providing an enriching work experience for individuals who enjoy variety and continuous learning. This is an excellent opportunity for a personable and detail-oriented individual who thrives in teamwork-driven environments and values community-focused service. The position encourages growth and is ideal for those motivated by helping others and adapting to changing priorities while maintaining high standards of customer care and library support.
