Job Description
Padel39 is a dynamic and community-oriented organization that goes beyond being just a workplace. It fosters an inclusive and supportive environment where every team member is encouraged to thrive and grow. Located in East Austin, Padel39 is known for its innovative approach to hospitality and community-building. With a small but dedicated team, the company values collaboration, creativity, and a relentless commitment to excellence. The culture at Padel39 is centered around mutual respect and a shared passion for delivering outstanding experiences to its members and the wider neighborhood.
East 5th Coffee is one of the standout concepts under Padel39, designed as a neighborhood coffee destination that does more than serve great coffee. Opening in May 2026, it aims to become the community's go-to spot by creating an inviting third-space atmosphere where guests feel genuinely welcomed. East 5th Coffee focuses heavily on hospitality that goes beyond the typical, ensuring every visitor feels a sense of belonging from the moment they step in. While exceptional coffee quality is non-negotiable, the real strength lies in the genuine connections made between the baristas and the guests. This approach is intentional to foster a warm, accessible environment that is both professional and personable.
The role of the Barista Lead at East 5th Coffee is pivotal in shaping this vision. This position is not just about coffee expertise but, more importantly, about leading and inspiring a team through exemplary service leadership. The Barista Lead will be responsible for opening the cafe five days a week (Wednesday through Sunday at 7 am), managing the morning shift, and providing a steady presence that both team members and guests can depend on. This role requires someone who leads by example, setting high standards through their own execution while nurturing the growth and professional development of their baristas. A strong emphasis is placed on honest communication and thorough shift documentation to ensure continuous improvement and accountability.
This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for hospitality and coffee who is ready to take ownership of building the culture and operations at East 5th Coffee. The Barista Lead will be recognized not only as a coffee professional but primarily as a people leader who cultivates a workplace known for kindness, professionalism, and consistent excellence. This opportunity offers the chance to be part of something meaningful with potential standalone brand growth, making it a role filled with pride and potential for long-term impact. Compensation ranges from $15 to $17 per hour plus tips, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, plus eligibility for PTO accrual and partial medical premium coverage. The position includes pre-opening training starting in April 2026, allowing for thorough onboarding and integration into the Padel39 team.
