At the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Sodexo is currently seeking a dedicated Barista II to join their team. This is a full-time position with a pay rate of $18.25 per hour. The role involves working varying shifts, with a preference for open availability to accommodate different days and hours. As a Barista II, you will play an essential role in crafting high-quality, handcrafted beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, teas, and fruit blends. Your expertise will help create memorable experiences for customers, making their day brighter and fostering repeat visits.

In addition to beverage preparation, the Barista II is responsible for operating cash registers, handling various forms of payment including cash, credit cards, and electronic payments. Maintaining cleanliness throughout work areas—such as coffee machines, preparation stations, restrooms, and dining areas—is also a vital part of the job to ensure health and safety standards are met. Timeliness and reliability are critical, as scheduled shifts require punctual attendance.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, showing adaptability, reliability, and a commitment to a safe and supportive workplace culture. Previous experience in customer service, food preparation, sanitation, and inventory control is preferable. Some locations may require Starbucks Barista certification, which reflects a high standard of beverage preparation and customer service skills.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous related experience preferred
  • Ability to work varying shifts including early mornings, evenings, and weekends

Job Duties

  • Greet customers, take orders, mix and serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks
  • Record all sales, collect cash/credit card/electronic payments and operate a cash register
  • Clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, restrooms and preparation areas
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
  • Maintain health and safety standards in all work areas
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure customer satisfaction
