The Barista I position at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, operated by Sodexo, offers an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant, fast-paced environment where customer service and quality beverage preparation are key. The role is available as either full-time or part-time, with a competitive pay range between $15.00 and $16.75 per hour. As a Barista I, you will be the face of the coffee service, greeting guests warmly and providing an exceptional customer experience through the crafting of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, teas, and fruit blends, customized to guest preferences.
Key responsibilities involve maintaining efficient service delivery, managing the aesthetics of the coffee bar, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of all preparation and serving areas. The role includes handling transactions, record-keeping, and adhering to cash-handling protocols. Physical demands require standing or walking throughout shifts often exceeding eight hours, as well as lifting and moving supplies up to 50 pounds occasionally. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- Customer service related work experience
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation standards, and inventory control systems
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time during shifts
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Open availability preferred
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- Customer service related work experience
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation standards, and inventory control systems
- Certification as a Starbucks Barista may be required
Job Duties
- Greet all guests and provide quick, friendly, and personalized service
- Mix and serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks while considering customer specifications
- Maintain good customer relations and ensure speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
- Educate guests regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling
- Arrange coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
- Clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas regularly
- Record all sales, collect money, operate a cash register, and follow all cash-handling procedures as required
