The role of Barista I at Sodexo within the OU Health - University of Oklahoma Medical Center is an on-call part-time opportunity offering a pay range between $15.56 and $16.17 per hour. This position involves providing exceptional customer service and crafting high-quality beverages in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be someone with flexibility and a passion for creating personalized, hand-crafted drinks, including coffees, teas, and fruit blends. As a Barista I, you will greet and engage guests warmly, ensuring speedy and friendly service that meets individual preferences. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and inviting coffee bar area, managing inventory, handling cash transactions accurately, and adhering to food safety and sanitation standards. Physical stamina is important for this role, as it requires long periods of standing and the ability to lift and move supplies. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Relevant customer service experience
  • Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work flexible and on-call shifts
  • Capability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Punctuality and reliability for scheduled shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Customer service related work experience
  • Must have knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
  • Starbucks Baristas may be required to be certified

Job Duties

  • Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service
  • Mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, cafe latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
  • Works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
  • Educate guests regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling
  • Arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
  • Often cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
  • Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register, and follows all cash-handling procedures as required
