Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in providing integrated food services, facilities management, and workplace experience solutions that enhance the quality of life for clients and their communities. With a strong commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and inclusion, Sodexo operates across numerous locations worldwide, partnering with organizations to offer comprehensive services designed to create memorable experiences for employees and customers alike. Sodexo values a supportive and respectful work environment where each individual is empowered to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the company's purpose of creating a better everyday for everyone.

The Barista I position at Sodexo is a part-time role located at Chapman University, offering hourly pay between $20 and $21. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about delivering excellent customer service through the craft of preparing quality beverages and food items. As a Barista I, you will have a direct impact on the customer experience by crafting hand-made coffee and tea beverages, operating cash registers, and maintaining cleanliness in all work areas. The position demands flexibility as shifts are available at any time, and full details are discussed during the interview. Sodexo encourages students, especially those with limited work hours like international students, to apply for specific student worker roles instead.

In your role as a Barista I, you will be a key contributor to creating a welcoming atmosphere, engaging with customers warmly, and ensuring fast and accurate service. Your duties will include greeting guests, taking orders, preparing a variety of hot and cold beverages such as espresso, cappuccino, lattes, teas, and fruit blends, and also handling cash and electronic payments efficiently. Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness by regularly cleaning coffee machines, preparation areas, and restrooms is essential to uphold operational standards. This role fosters teamwork and requires candidates to be adaptable, reliable, and committed to nurturing a safe and healthy environment for coworkers and customers. Although prior work experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. Some locations might require Starbucks Barista certification to perform certain tasks.

Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, Sodexo offers its team members extensive training and development opportunities to grow their skills and advance their careers within the company. The workplace culture is built around inclusivity, respect, and valuing individuality, ensuring that employees feel supported and motivated. Sodexo's benefits package includes paid time off, holidays, comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans, tuition reimbursement, 401k retirement savings options, discount programs, and more. In some locations, additional benefits such as free shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation perks may also be offered. Sodexo emphasizes the importance of work-life balance and flexibility to accommodate employees' personal lives and commitments.

This Barista I position is perfect for individuals excited about coffee culture and eager to develop customer service and barista skills in a reputable and caring organization. Sodexo’s commitment to diversity and equal opportunity employment ensures a workplace where all employees can flourish regardless of background or identity. Join Sodexo to be part of a team that values your input, encourages your growth, and gives you the platform to make a meaningful impact every day.
