Job Description

The Arnold Hall Polaris Perk Coffee Shop, located on the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, is seeking a dedicated Barista to join their team. This non-appropriated fund (NAF) position supports the facility’s coffee service operations and does not include benefits. Job Requirements

  • Must have experience in specialty coffee preparation
  • Knowledge of drink recipes and coffee beans
  • Ability to use espresso machines safely
  • Ability to memorize drink recipes
  • Ability to hear and follow instructions
  • Work safely and do arithmetic
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 40 pounds frequently
  • Able to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods
  • Obtain Food Handler's Certificate or complete training
  • Complete pre-employment physical
  • Pass Tier 1 background check
  • Open to all applicants with required eligibility documentation
  • No education substitution for experience allowed

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in specialty coffee preparation or similar activity
  • Knowledge of coffee beans, teas, and specialty drink recipes
  • Ability to safely operate espresso machines and related equipment
  • Ability to memorize and recall drink recipes
  • Basic arithmetic skills
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring frequent lifting and standing
  • Completion or ability to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Successfully pass a Tier 1 background investigation

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve specialty coffee and tea beverages according to specific recipes
  • Operate espresso machines and other coffee-making equipment safely
  • Memorize and accurately execute a variety of drink recipes
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards including maintaining a clean work area
  • Assist customers with menu selections and provide excellent customer service
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds frequently
  • Adhere to health, safety, and operational guidelines at all times
