Job Requirements
- Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to specialty coffee preparation or similar activity
- Barista must have knowledge of variety of drink recipes and knowledge of coffee beans and teas typically served at a specialty coffee operation
- Must be able to know how to safely use the equipment such an espresso machine
- Must be able to memorize specialty coffee drink recipes
- Must have the ability to hear and follow oral and or written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic
- Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time
- Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required
- Satisfactory completion of a Tier 1 background investigation required
Job Qualifications
- Experience in specialty coffee preparation or similar activity
- Knowledge of coffee beans, teas, and specialty drink recipes
- Ability to safely use espresso machines and related equipment
- Capability to memorize beverage recipes
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds frequently
- Able to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods
- Food handler certificate or completion of food handler training
- Completion of pre-employment physical and Tier 1 background investigation
Job Duties
- Prepare specialty coffee and tea beverages following established recipes
- Operate espresso machines and other coffee-making equipment safely
- Memorize a variety of specialty drink recipes
- Follow oral and written instructions accurately
- Perform simple arithmetic calculations related to sales and inventory
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the work environment
- Assist customers with beverage selection and provide excellent customer service
