The role of the Barista (Food Service Worker 2) is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food service in a medical setting. This is a full-time position with a 100% full-time equivalent (FTE), totaling 40 hours per week, with two full-time openings featuring different shift patterns, including night shifts (Sunday-Thursday, 8pm to 4:30am), early evening shifts (Monday-Friday or Sunday-Wednesday, 2pm to 10:30pm with potential morning shifts), and day shifts. The pay range for this position is $21.77 to $24.48 per hour.

In this role, the barista independently operates a remote food service area or espresso bar. Responsibilities include preparing and serving espresso beverages and food items, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the workspace, and providing respectful and excellent customer service to a diverse customer base within a healthcare environment. The role also involves operating all necessary food service equipment, handling cash register transactions, ensuring food display is attractive, training new or unskilled employees, and keeping stock of the necessary supplies. This position requires attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality food and beverage service in a fast-paced medical setting.

Job Requirements

  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
  • Minimum one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverages
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when legal requirements exist
  • Ability to work full-time hours including varied shifts
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with food preparation and service

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of experience preparing and serving food and beverages
  • Ability to train and mentor new employees
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to operate food service equipment safely and efficiently
  • Basic math skills for cash register operation
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

Job Duties
