The Arnold Hall Polaris Perk Coffee Shop at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado is seeking to fill a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) position for a Barista. Job Requirements
- Must have experience in and knowledge of specialty coffee preparation or similar activity
- Knowledge of coffee drink recipes and coffee beans
- Ability to operate espresso machines safely
- Must memorize specialty coffee drink recipes
- Ability to hear and follow oral and written instructions
- Must be physically capable of frequently lifting objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods
- Must obtain Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler’s training
- Must successfully complete pre-employment physical
- Must pass Tier 1 background investigation
Job Qualifications
- Experience in specialty coffee preparation or related activity
- Knowledge of a variety of coffee drink recipes and coffee beans
- Ability to use espresso machines and related equipment safely
- Skill in memorizing recipes
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Capability to perform basic arithmetic
- Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds frequently
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for extended periods
- Must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler’s training
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical and Tier 1 background investigation
- Open to all applicants including those with preference eligibilities
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve specialty coffee and tea beverages according to recipes
- Operate espresso machines and other coffee equipment safely
- Memorize a variety of drink recipes
- Follow oral and written instructions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop area
- Handle customer transactions and provide excellent customer service
- Lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds safely
