The Barista role at Sodexo, located at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, is a full-time position with a starting pay of $16.00 per hour. This position offers morning shifts on varying days with some weekend and holiday work, with specific schedules discussed during the interview process. As a Barista, you will be the face of the coffee bar, providing friendly and personalized service to all customers while preparing and serving handcrafted beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, and fruit blend drinks. You'll be instrumental in maintaining customer satisfaction through speedy delivery, knowledge of the menu, and suggestive selling techniques. This role includes maintaining cleanliness of coffee machines and preparation areas, managing cash transactions, and ensuring an attractive and well-stocked coffee bar environment. Physical demands include prolonged standing or walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Job Duties

  • Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service
  • mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
  • works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
  • educates guests regarding menu offerings and initiates suggestive selling
  • arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
  • often cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
  • records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register, and follows all cash-handling procedures as required
  • significant walking or other means of mobility
  • ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
  • ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
