Job Description

Mercurys Coffee Co. is a well-established coffee company with over 15 award-winning locations across the Eastside, including the Seattle area, primarily known for its premier coffee roastery based in Bellevue, WA. Since its founding in 1998, Mercurys has grown into a respected name in the coffee industry by focusing on organic coffee offerings, exceptional customer service, and cultivating a passionate team culture. The company prides itself on fostering a community-oriented atmosphere that embraces people, fosters relationships, and spreads love, one greeting, and connection at a time. It is committed to creating a welcoming environment where coffee culture and community intertwine seamlessly. Mercurys Coffee Co. employs a dedicated team that works together to uphold its mission of Coffee, Culture, Community® with every interaction.

The Barista role at Mercurys Coffee Co. is integral to the brand’s identity and success. Baristas are not simply employees who prepare drinks; they are the face of the brand, responsible for establishing genuine and meaningful connections with customers and coworkers. This position offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities, with a competitive pay rate ranging from $17.15 to $19.82 per hour, complemented by tips. The Barista’s daily duties involve crafting and serving high-quality espresso-based drinks, coffees, teas, energy drinks, and blended beverages while providing friendly, attentive, and efficient customer service. Baristas contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized café environment and support operational tasks such as restocking and prepping.

Mercurys values individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm for coffee and community engagement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting. Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic are essential traits embedded into the company culture. While previous barista or customer service experience is advantageous, Mercurys offers comprehensive on-the-job training to equip employees with the necessary skills to thrive. This role requires candidates to be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, and possess or be able to obtain necessary permits such as food handler’s and, in some locations, MAST permits. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the stamina to stand, bend, and reach throughout a shift, often requiring weekend availability.

Mercurys Coffee Co. is an equal opportunity employer devoted to diversity and inclusion, prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected status. They are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities to ensure an inclusive workplace.

Joining Mercurys as a Barista means becoming part of a vibrant team passionate about craft, community, and creativity. This opportunity allows individuals to grow professionally within a brand that cherishes quality, culture, and human connection. The company offers a range of benefits including dental and health insurance, vision coverage, paid time off, paid training, employee discounts, and flexible scheduling options to support work-life balance and employee well-being.
