Job Description
Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC) is a well-established grocery retail business headquartered in Tyler, Texas. With a legacy of serving communities for many decades, BGC operates over 215 stores across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma under five unique banners: Brookshire's Grocery Company, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, Fresh by Brookshire's, and Reasor's. As a significant player in the grocery industry in these regions, BGC is committed to delivering quality products, excellent customer service, and fostering a sense of community among its employees and customers. The company prides itself on creating a workplace culture where employees, referred to as partners, can thrive, grow, and contribute meaningfully, alongside enjoying comprehensive benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development.
At Brookshire Grocery Company, the Coffee Barista position plays a crucial role in enhancing the customer experience by preparing, brewing, and serving coffee and related beverages within the stores. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about coffee and customer service. Baristas actively contribute to maintaining product quality, adhering to food safety standards, and promoting sales through suggestive selling. The position involves preparing a variety of hot or cold beverages such as coffee, espresso drinks, and teas by carefully following recipes and preparation techniques. Maintaining stock levels, monitoring product quality including appearance and storage temperature, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment are fundamental responsibilities.
This role demands excellent customer interaction skills, as providing friendly and service-oriented engagement with customers is essential. Baristas greet customers, answer questions, and take orders through various channels, including in-person and phone orders. The position requires operating equipment safely and effectively, such as espresso machines, coffee grinders, and commercial ovens, demonstrating a strong ability to learn and adapt to new systems and processes. The barista must also work well within a team environment and maintain company safety procedures to uphold a sanitary environment for employees and customers alike.
Brookshire Grocery Company values the well-being of its employees and offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports work-life balance, health, financial security, and personal growth. The benefits include medical, vision, dental, and prescription coverage; paid time off for rest and recreation; a 401(k) plan with company contributions; exclusive employee discounts; educational scholarships; and access to a unique 205-acre outdoor recreation area for relaxation and connection beyond the workplace.
Applicants for the Coffee Barista position should be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of six months related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including a Food Handler certification. Training is typically provided on the job. Physical demands include the frequent use of vision, standing or walking, handling objects up to 75 pounds occasionally, and maintaining alertness to workplace hazards for safety. The work setting is generally within a retail store environment, which involves exposure to various conditions like hot surfaces, occasional extreme temperatures, and slippery areas.
Brookshire Grocery Company upholds a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, safe, and drug-free workplace that respects diversity and equal opportunity employment. Joining BGC means becoming part of a supportive team where you can grow your skills, make an impact, and belong to a community-centric company that truly values its partners.
