16 On Center Chicago is a dynamic and innovative company that owns and operates a variety of live music venues, third-party production services, restaurants, bars, and food halls across the major cities of Chicago and New York. As one of the country’s leading independent promoters, 16 On Center is widely recognized for its commitment to delivering exceptional entertainment and dining experiences to diverse communities. The organization thrives on a culture of inclusivity, actively seeking diverse candidates and providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by law. This approach fosters a vibrant, respectful, and supportive work environment that values varied perspectives and backgrounds.

Within this expansive ecosystem, the Olly Olly Market represents a unique collaboration that houses JM Bakery, among other culinary experiences. The market serves as a community hub merging food, beverage, and cultural offerings where guests can enjoy expertly crafted menus and innovative beverage programs. By joining the 16 On Center team at Olly Olly Market as the Lead Barista, you become integral to elevating the guest experience through high-quality service and leadership.

The Lead Barista position at JM Bakery is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing daily café operations and ensuring a seamless, exceptional visitor experience. This role involves direct leadership of the café team to maintain a warm, welcoming environment that aligns with 16 On Center’s standards of hospitality. The Lead Barista sets the tone for staff performance by leading through example on the floor, coaching team members, and driving sales success through thoughtful execution of the café’s beverage programs that extend beyond coffee to include non-alcoholic and alcoholic selections.

This role demands a proactive, hands-on leader who not only manages operational responsibilities but also fosters positive culture and collaboration among the café team and the broader Olly Olly Market colleagues. Responsibilities include monitoring inventory and supplies to ensure cost control, facilitating staff onboarding and training, scheduling in partnership with management, and supporting private events to grow the café’s revenue streams. Furthermore, the Lead Barista supports the maintenance of cleanliness and organizational standards, ensuring the café remains guest-ready throughout the day.

The ideal candidate brings at least one to two years of experience in a café or hospitality environment with a background in supervisory or lead positions. Strong communication skills are essential for coaching team members effectively and for active participation in leadership meetings. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere and who demonstrates organizational skills, attention to detail, and accountability. Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 40 pounds, and performing varied movements are also part of the job requirements.

Joining 16 On Center and Olly Olly Market means becoming part of an exciting, community-focused enterprise that values innovation, diversity, and excellence in hospitality. Candidates passionate about crafting memorable guest experiences and building supportive, positive team environments will find a rewarding career opportunity with this company.
