Job Description

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is an internationally recognized specialty coffee and tea retailer that was born and brewed in Southern California in 1963. Over the decades, the company has expanded to become one of the world’s largest specialty coffee and tea retailers, with cafés located globally and offices in California, Singapore, and Malaysia. This brand is centered around a passion for premium products, people, and customers, embodying a creative and caring spirit that has made it famous and beloved first in Southern California and now around the world. With a focus on maintaining its core values and heritage, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is committed to a socially responsible and guest service-driven culture that elevates every visit to an experience worth savoring.

The Barista position at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf offers a unique opportunity to be part of a passionate Brew Crew. As a Barista, you will curate memorable experiences by providing the world’s finest quality coffee and tea experience to guests. This role is not just about making coffee; it is about being a warm host who guides guests through their coffee journey from beginning to end, delivering exceptional service every step of the way. Baristas at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf share knowledge not only about the premium coffee and tea products but also about the company’s sustainability practices. Training is provided to help you become a true coffee and tea expert, but your passion is the main ingredient that brings those moments to life.

This role allows for the development of interpersonal skills through consistent guest engagement and the opportunity to grow within the company. Many General Managers at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf started their careers as Baristas, highlighting the potential for career advancement. The company values Friendliness, Respect, Ownership, Teamwork, and Honesty, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where team members can thrive. The position is hourly, with a competitive pay range of $20.00 to $22.00 per hour based on minimum wage ordinances and experience, making it a rewarding and flexible role for individuals who love premium coffee, tea, and community interaction.

In addition to creating coffee moments and welcoming new guests to the café, Baristas contribute to the overall success by maintaining the tidiness of the store, organizing stock, and innovating new ways to improve the customer experience. Safety is a top priority, ensuring both employees and guests are in a healthy, secure environment. Physical aspects of the job include movements such as climbing, balancing, stooping, and lifting up to moderate weights, all performed in both indoor and outdoor environments that may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and other working conditions.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity and embraces diversity and inclusion in all aspects of employment. This commitment ensures a respectful workplace where employees and applicants are treated fairly without discrimination or harassment based on protected status.
