Saint Luke's System Office is a renowned faith-based, nonprofit, and locally owned health system headquartered in Kansas City. With a dedicated team of approximately 12,000 employees, Saint Luke's is recognized as the premier provider of health services in the Kansas City region. The institution prides itself on delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining a highly diverse and inclusive workplace where every voice is valued. This commitment to excellence has positioned Saint Luke's as a leader in the healthcare sector, emphasizing a holistic approach to patient recovery that extends beyond medical treatment.
The Nutrition Department at Saint Luke's plays a vital role in the healing and recovery process for patients. This department is responsible for providing quality and nutritious meals to patients and their families, ensuring that nutrition remains a key component in patient care. Working within this department means contributing to an environment dedicated to positive patient experiences through compassionate service and attention to individual needs.
The position of a full-time Barista within Saint Luke's System Office offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with patients, staff, and visitors by preparing a wide variety of iced and hot beverages according to customer orders and standardized recipes. The Barista serves as the face of the Nutrition Department, tasked with delivering friendly, personalized service that not only meets customers' needs but also educates them about the diverse offerings available, including pastries, coffees, kombucha, gelato, and teas. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming atmosphere that complements the overall healing environment of the hospital.
This full-time position requires working 40 hours per week, specifically from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with the significant advantage of no weekend or holiday shifts, providing a balanced work-life schedule. The role demands a positive attitude, strong customer service skills, flexibility, the ability to work independently, eagerness to learn, and a collaborative spirit. Being on your feet for the entire shift is a necessity, reflecting the active and dynamic nature of the position.
Saint Luke's is committed to the professional growth of its employees by offering opportunities for advancement within the health system. Those in the Barista role have the potential to develop leadership skills or explore different career paths while remaining within the supportive and resource-rich environment of Saint Luke's. This commitment extends to providing tuition and continuing education assistance, facilitating lifelong learning and career development.
In addition to personal and professional growth, employees benefit from a comprehensive package that includes health, vision, and dental insurance, leave of absence options, paid time off (PTO), extended sick leave, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, and various voluntary benefits. Retirement options are also available, making Saint Luke's not only a great place to work but also a wise long-term career choice.
Overall, the Barista role at Saint Luke's System Office is much more than a typical beverage service job—it is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient wellness, be part of a respected healthcare team, and grow within a dynamic and compassionate environment dedicated to "The Best Place to Get Care. The Best Place to Give Care."
