The role of Barista at the Heart Center is an essential part of creating a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff. This position is a full-time opportunity that involves the preparation and serving of various beverages such as coffee and tea, alongside light food items like sandwiches, muffins, fruit, or cookies. The Barista is responsible for maintaining an appealing display case presentation that entices customers and enhances their overall experience.
Operating within a fast-paced healthcare setting, the Barista must possess excellent customer service skills, demonstrating a friendly and professional demeanor at all times. Beyond beverage preparation, the role includes handling orders, explaining menu items, processing payments, and ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitized work environment. Job Requirements
- One or more years of experience in food handling customer facing positions
- Ability to read and communicate in English
- Basic math and counting skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency while maintaining great customer service
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical, and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Two or more years of experience as a barista preferred
- Two or more years of cash handling experience preferred
- Basic math and counting skills
- Ability to read and communicate in English
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency while maintaining great customer service
Job Duties
- Perform the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
- Welcome customers, inform them about specials or new items, answer questions, and accept orders and payments in coffee shops or cafes
- Prepare food such as sandwiches or baked goods, grind and blend coffee beans, brew coffee and tea, and serve items to customers
- Package food and beverages for sale
- Clean and restock work and dining areas, empty trash, push in chairs, and sanitize equipment and utensils
- Maintain food, product, and supply quality and safety following HACCP and departmental standards
- Take inventory and replenish items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter
- Provide excellent customer service
- Report safety hazards as well as equipment in need of repair
- Assist in other areas such as dishroom, food production, cafeteria as needed
- Perform professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
- Carry out additional duties as assigned
