The Barista position at The University of Alabama at Birmingham is a full-time or part-time role with a competitive pay range of $10.76 to $14.56 per hour. The position involves varying shifts with open availability preferred, allowing some flexibility to accommodate different schedules. This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in creating quality handcrafted beverages and delivering excellent customer service. As a Barista, you will be the face of Sodexo’s café services, responsible for greeting customers and crafting a variety of hot and cold drinks, including coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, and fruit blend beverages.
In addition to beverage preparation, you will operate cash registers, handle sales transactions, and maintain a clean and inviting environment. This includes cleaning coffee machines, restaurant areas, restrooms, and preparation zones to high standards of cleanliness. The job requires punctuality, reliability, and a positive attitude, as you will contribute directly to creating pleasant experiences for customers. No previous work experience is required, although experience and Starbucks Barista certification may be preferred or required at some locations. Job Duties
- Greet customers, take orders, mix and serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks
- record all sales, collect cash/credit card/electronic payments and operate a cash register
- clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, restrooms and preparation areas
- attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
