The Barista role at Grand Beach Hotel is a pivotal position designed to enhance the guest experience through excellence in service, product knowledge, and guest interaction. The primary responsibility of the Barista is to provide the highest quality of service to guests in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner. This includes preparing and serving coffee, alcoholic beverages, and food items according to the hotel's standards while ensuring accuracy and timeliness in every order. The Barista will also be responsible for receiving and delivering guest orders, managing point of sales transactions, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the service area. Integral to this role is the ability to suggestively sell beverages and menu items to guests, answer questions about offerings, make tailored recommendations, and promote upselling opportunities in a friendly and professional way. The Barista is expected to maintain comprehensive knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, non-alcoholic selections, drink recipes, garnishes, and appropriate glassware used within the hotel. A key component of the role involves strictly adhering to responsible alcohol service policies, which includes verifying guest identification when necessary. Teamwork, guest relationship skills, and adherence to hotel policies—including those relating to uniform, appearance, and conduct—are crucial to succeed in this position. The Barista must also be prepared to handle various general duties such as executing emergency procedures, maintaining equipment, attending training sessions, and upholding cleanliness standards to contribute to the safety and well-being of guests and staff alike. Job Duties
- Serve food course and alcoholic beverages to the guest
- Suggestively sell beverages and menu items
- Take orders
- Answer guest questions
- Make recommendations
- Up-sell liquors
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
- Communicate drink orders to the bar through the point of sales system
- Request identification from any guest who appears to be under 30 years of age
- Remove dirty glasses and dishes, including lifting/moving bus tubs up to 25lbs
- Keep tables clean at all times
- Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware, and garnishes
- Maintain behavior consistent with sexual harassment/hostile work environment policy
- Report to work as scheduled, in proper uniform
- Apply excellent guest relations skills when interacting with guests
- Observe hotel telephone etiquette, message, and call-handling procedures
- Execute special projects and duties as assigned
- Promote and apply teamwork skills at all times
- Remain polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management, and fellow team members
- Execute emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards
- Comply with required safety regulations and procedures
- Attend appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions
- Maintain cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area
- Comply with hotel standards, policies, and rules
- Recycle whenever possible
- Remain current with hotel information and changes
- Comply with hotel uniform and grooming standards
- Perform to standard all activities on the new hire training checklist within the first 30 days
