PIH Health Whittier Hospital, in partnership with Sodexo, is seeking a dedicated Barista to join their team. The role of Barista at Sodexo is more than just preparing beverages. It is about creating handcrafted, quality coffee and other drinks that brighten the day for every customer. This part-time position offers an hourly pay rate of $21.00 and involves varying shifts and hours, with a preference for open availability. Key responsibilities include greeting customers, taking orders, mixing and serving both hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, and fruit-blend drinks. In addition, the barista operates cash registers, records all sales, and handles payment transactions through cash, credit card, or electronic methods. Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment is essential, involving regular cleaning of coffee machines, restaurant areas, restrooms, and preparation spaces.
As a Barista, you support a healthy and safe working environment and show reliability by attending scheduled shifts on time consistently. Although no previous experience is required, preferred candidates will have prior work experience and may hold a Starbucks Barista certification depending on location requirements. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- reliable with good attendance
- strong communication and customer service skills
- ability to operate cash registers and handle monetary transactions
- availability to work varying shifts including days/hours with open availability preferred
- ability to maintain cleanliness standards
- physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform cleaning tasks

Job Duties
- greet customers, take orders, mix and serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks
- record all sales, collect cash/credit card/electronic payments and operate a cash register
- clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, restrooms and preparation areas
- attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
