Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- previous experience as a barista or in a similar role preferred
- possess strong interpersonal skills to deliver exceptional service
- basic coffee knowledge such as how to prepare common coffee beverages
- strong attention to detail and time management skills
- strong teamwork abilities for working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- strong communication skills including effective listening
- highly organized to manage The Pantry
- flexible and adaptable to changes in workflow, menu items, staff
- ability to remain calm during peak hours and challenging guests
- comfortable in upselling
- demonstrated working knowledge of food handling regulations
- basic math skills
- ability to use Point of Sale (POS) system
- ability to use employee self-service on company human resources/payroll database
Job Duties
- Greet guests and members in a warm and friendly manner
- answer questions about the menu
- communicate customer feedback to managers as necessary
- make recommendations based on customer preferences
- prepare and serve a variety of teas and coffee beverages including espresso, cappuccino, and latte
- maintain high standards of quality, cleanliness, and presentation
- operate coffee brewing equipment, espresso machines, and other café equipment
- handle cash transactions, debit and credit payments, and maintain accurate records of sales
- track and order inventory for food and beverage supplies such as coffee, milk, napkins, cups, retail items
- clean equipment and countertops, restock supplies, sanitize work areas
- keep The Pantry clean and stocked including sweeping floors
- may be scheduled to work at banquet events
- participate in pre-shift meetings, taste tests, and training
- conform with all safety standards and use appropriate safety equipment
- follow good personal hygiene guidelines
- perform other duties as assigned
