Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • valid Oregon Food Handlers card
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand, bend, move and walk throughout the workday
  • willingness to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • adherence to personal hygiene and department dress code
  • ability to work in environments with heat, cold, and exposure to chemicals and infectious materials

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic
  • prior foodservice experience preferred, however on the job training is provided
  • must be able to provide a high level of hospitality service to many residents within a short period of time
  • must possess a valid Oregon Food Handlers card
  • ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers and supervisors
  • must be able to perform duties in a timely manner consistent with the needs of the residents, dining room standards, and assigned schedules
  • must be able to understand and effectively support and apply DRV policies and procedures as they apply to circumstances that arise

Job Duties

  • Takes beverage and food orders from residents, staff, and guests
  • prepares and serves espresso and other coffee and tea beverages to order
  • pours and serves soda, alcohol, and other beverage menu items
  • preps and keeps adequate supply of items on beverage menu
  • serves menu items to customers in lounge and other dining areas as needed
  • uses correct portion control and recipes as directed by supervisor to ensure costs are managed and contained
  • delivers room delivery orders to resident apartments in a timely manner to preserve food temperatures and quality
  • performs table clearing, dishwashing and cleaning procedures as needed
  • keeps the grab and go area in the back kitchen clean and organized
  • maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code
  • attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned
  • always follows safety regulations and established food safety policies and procedures
  • restocks the grab and go cooler and beverage cooler at the beginning of the shift and before leaving for the day when product is available
  • ensures all grab and go items are not expired and meet quality standards
  • ensures adequate amount of beer and wine are stocked at the bar
