Job Requirements
- Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures
- 1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within hospitality or food service
- CA Food Handler's Permit required
- experience working in both counter-service and full-service settings is a plus
- previous barista training or willingness to learn espresso and coffee preparation is preferred

- excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
- excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team with internal departments, external vendors, suppliers, and customers
- self-motivated and able to make decisions and exercise prudent judgement with minimal guidance
- experience with POS systems such as Toast, Square, Shopify or similar a plus
- knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with ability to learn in house programs
- ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices
- good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons
- ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly
- flexibility to work nights and holidays as required by business needs
Job Duties
- Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons
- correctly customizes orders as requested
- describes product details to customers in partnership with Onyx coffee
- receives and processes customer payments
- serves prepared baked goods including pastries
- ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items
- cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas
- cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas
- ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment
- stocks supplies or retail products
- may inventory, order, or receive products as directed
- performs other related duties as assigned
- accurately handle POS transactions and orders, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in a high-paced setting
- maintain a friendly and engaging attitude while interacting with customers and fellow team members
