Job Requirements

Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures
1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within hospitality or food service
CA Food Handler's Permit required
experience working in both counter-service and full-service settings is a plus
previous barista training or willingness to learn espresso and coffee preparation is preferred

Job Qualifications

excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team with internal departments, external vendors, suppliers, and customers
self-motivated and able to make decisions and exercise prudent judgement with minimal guidance
experience with POS systems such as Toast, Square, Shopify or similar a plus
knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with ability to learn in house programs
ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices
good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons
ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly
flexibility to work nights and holidays as required by business needs

Job Duties

Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons
correctly customizes orders as requested
describes product details to customers in partnership with Onyx coffee
receives and processes customer payments
serves prepared baked goods including pastries
ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items
cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas
cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas
ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment
stocks supplies or retail products
may inventory, order, or receive products as directed
performs other related duties as assigned
accurately handle POS transactions and orders, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in a high-paced setting
maintain a friendly and engaging attitude while interacting with customers and fellow team members
